CRUSADE pioneers innovative technologies to revolutionize recycling, extracting critical raw materials from automotive components with unrivaled efficiency.

Through a universal hydrometallurgical method, we recycle up to 500 tons/year of spent components, while recovering 40 tons/year of critical metals. Leveraging blockchain for material tracing and a pan-European collection network ensures sustainability. Our process reduces CO2 emissions by 15-80%, outperforming commercial methods.

With automated processing, we achieve a 15% time reduction and offer materials at 15% lower prices, promoting cost efficiency.

Brief History

End-of-Life (EoL) vehicles generate about 7-8 million tons of waste each year in EU. The Directive on EoL vehicles sets clear goals for ELVs and their components. In many Member States, such as Italy, EoL devices powered by electricity or batteries are considered Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

The recycling process for EoL vehicles involves several steps (vehicle preparation, shredding, separation, recycling and disposal). However, there are parts that cannot be recycled (such as batteries, tires, motors, electronics, etc.) and need to be safely disposed before recycling.

CRUSADE aims to act complementarily with ELV dismantlers and recyclers and develop a strategy to recycle the remaining parts with focus on PCBs, catalytic converters, LFP batteries, and automotive fuel cells, to extract and reuse the valuable elements contained in them, looping the automotive sector.
